Dr. Alli Murugesan

Founder & President

BioHuntress is both led and owned by Dr. Alli Murugesan, a driven female Scientist (Biotechnologist) and Entrepreneur. She is leading by example by commercializing her own research invention, a nature-inspired, blood cancer cell specific, well-tolerated drug for treating blood cancers.

Dr. Murugesan/BioHuntress has gained the legitimacy of MITACS by receiving the 2018 MITACS Global Impact Entrepreneur Award – a national recognition for outstanding innovation in cancer research, and entrepreneurship and that of BioNova by being the semi-finalists at the BioNova’s BioInnovation Challenge in 2018.

Julia Levy

Advisor

Among a well-rounded group of advisors, Dr. Julia Levy is the Founder and Director Emerita of QLT Inc.; the only Canadian based company to have discovered and led the development of a successful drug independently and that once had a valuation higher than some Canadian banks. Dr. Levy remains actively involved in mentoring and investing in early-stage life sciences ventures and currently serves as an advisor to BioHuntress.

Emma Manning

Business Development Assistant

Ms. Emma Manning graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in 2020 with a BSc in Biology & Psychology (Deans’ list), and brings to BioHuntress experience in both scientific research and large-scale fundraising. She has been actively involved with Shinerama, the largest post-secondary fundraiser in Canada, since 2016 and currently volunteers on the National Leadership Team as a Regional Director overseeing campaigns in Atlantic Canada. After completing her eight-month business internship with BioHuntress through the McKenna Fellowship, Emma joined BioHuntress in September 2021 as the Technology and Business Development Assistant and has been contributing significantly to an array of projects and grants involving science and business.
